The Engagement Session of Samantha and Justin
July 30, 2011
Samantha and Justin are one of those couples that you love to just sit back and
watch - the little glances they exchange with each other, the way they interact
with one another... they are a really great couple and we had a wonderful time
shooting their engagement session in Olde Worthington.
Now, to be honest, it was oppressively hot that evening. Not just a bit warm,
but stifling HOT! Luckily, we shot in the evening, when the temperature had
dropped to about the surface of the sun. Still, though, they looked like they
were having a ball the whole time, and we got all sorts of great shots in! I think
that an engagement session, properly done, is so much fun for everyone
involved that the little details ( rain, fog, heat, calamity ) get lost in the moment
sometimes. In the case of Samantha and Justin, I think their beautiful images
tell the story better than my ramblings!

The Wedding of Carolyn and Kaoru
September 10, 2011
Carolyn and Kaoru had the most amazing wedding day! And you know what? I
knew it would be, because we had so much fun with their engagement session
back in May of this year, which you can view HERE.
On a beautiful fall day, they were married at the Northwest Christian church in
a very pretty ceremony. From there, we whisked off to several locations for
some photography time! We went to their home so that we could include their
little doggies in a few photos ( awwww.... ) and then off to the Arch in the Arena
District, where we encountered three other bridal parties who had the same
idea! Oh No! We didn't let that stop us, and we journeyed to the Scioto Mile in
downtown for some more great shots!
After the photos, we made our way to the beautiful Jefferson Country Club in
Blacklick for their reception, which was absolutely gorgeous! But don't take my
word for it - click on the image at right to see for yourself!

The Wedding of Jennifer and Ben
September 15-16, 2011
I was going to write a little something about Jennifer and Ben's wedding day, as
I normally do, but I thought it would be more fun to share with you a little story
about them, which they provided to me. In Ben's words,
The Magic of Hocking Hills
From our first visit to the hills together as friends something magical happened.
What was just supposed to be a hike with a picnic under "muddy trails" cave
turned into the beginning of a love story. The day was gloomy and the misty fog
surrounded us as we hiked towards the cave. I have been climbing and hiking the
hills for many years and I always knew they were special, I just didn't know they
would lead me to my wife. We sat under the cave while I cooked our meal on a
backpacking stove and noticed something else...

The Wedding of Samantha and Justin
October 7, 2011
Samantha and Justin were married in a beautiful evening ceremony at The
Venue, in downtown Columbus. The actual ceremony took place in an area of
The Venue known as the courtyard, which is open to the sky and was filled with
beautiful, glittering lights all about. It was just magical!
Prior to the ceremony, when the light was still plentiful, we journeyed throughout
downtown Columbus, shooting pictures at all sorts of cute locations. We got lots
of great shots and it was really, really fun! Did I mention that the weather was
absolutely divine? At the reception, which also took place at The Venue, the
newlyweds, their family, and friends, danced the night away to the sounds of an
amazing live band. It truly was a perfect celebration!

The Wedding of Holly and Ryan
October 14, 2011
When Holly and Ryan were planning their engagement session, they asked me
for some suggestions as to where would be a good place to shoot. I named a few
of my favorite spots, and from that, they picked Inniswoods. We had a great time
and they fell in love with the spot - so much so that they changed their wedding
plans so that they could be me married there! Well, a few days out from their
wedding, and guess what? The forecast called for rain and heavy winds the whole
day long! Noooooooo! So, ever practical and open-minded - and wise, I should
add - they found a beautiful little church in Dublin - on very short notice - that
was able to accomodate their needs and provided a location for their ceremony.
Their wedding was beautiful, and although it was very windy, the rain held off
and we were able to get all sorts of great shots outdoors after their ceremony.
From there, we whisked off to their reception at Marcella's for a very beautiful
and intimate celebration!

The Engagement Session of Amy and Clement
October 15, 2011
When Amy and Clement were trying to decide where to have their engagement
session, they turned to me for a few suggestions, and we decided upon a certain lovely
mansion I knew of in Bexley.
It was a very, very windy day, but at the same time the temperature was comfortable
and it was bright and cheery - not at all bad from a photography point of view. We
were having a ball and getting all sorts of great shots in, so when the time came to go
to our second planned destination, they decided to forego that and continue shooting
at the mansion. It turned out to be a fabulous decision because we just kept getting
more and more great shots in, and it was so much fun!
With their wedding day fast approaching in just a few weeks, you'd best hurry to see
their engagement blog post, so don't delay and click on the image at right!
The Wedding of Jennifer and Ken
October 22, 2011
Okay, so to my knowledge, Jennifer and Ken are the first couple I've had who met
each other through eHarmony.com. How cool is that? They enjoy sharing a private
joke that she went into Starbucks one day for a coffee, and came out with a Ken.
Cheers for Starbucks and it's role in their marriage!
Now then, a few words about their actual wedding day... the bride-to-be prepared
for her big day at the Polaris Hilton, and from there it was just a short walk to a
wonderful restaurant called Eddie Merlots, which I should note is absolutely
gorgeous! The cerermony was beautiful, and the bride and groom, their friends
and family - everyone had a fantastic time celebrating this wonderful new
marriage and toasting to their new lives together.

The Wedding of Brittany and David
October 23, 2011
Occasionally, a bride tells me a story that I find is soooo much better than
anything I could possibly write about their wedding day. This is one of those
times. In the words of Brittany, "...David and I met at a time when being with one
another was impossible. Well, fairy tales do come true, and nothing stopped the two
of us from loving and being with one another. This fairy tale love brought about our
little son, Landon, sooner than we expected, but we didn't let the news of his arrival
alter any of our wedding plans! Instead of interfering with our wedding, our son
completed our special day. We look forward to telling our baby boy all about this
special day that the three of us spent together when he grows older."
Might I add that they will also surely enjoy showing him all of the great images of
this special day when they tell him those stories! Just click on the image at right

Choosing the Right Wedding Photographer
November 17, 2011
Not to sound overly dramatic, but if you're a bride looking for a wedding
photographer, this could be the most important article you have ever read!
Have you ever walked into a car dealership to buy a car, particularly if it was your
first time, and felt like you had just walked into a lion's den? I know I have, and it
can be very intimidating. You may have an idea of what you want going in, but
pretty soon they've planted so many different things in your head, and talked
about leases and interest and financing and blah blah blah that soon enough,
your head is just spinning! I know that feeling ( although I'm much better about
handling it now! Yay Me! ) Okay, so the truth is, choosing a wedding
photographer can be an experience very much like that at the car dealership.
You kind of know what you want...

The Wedding of Amy and Clement
November 25, 2011
Amy and Clem first met on Match.com in November, 2009. Amy didn't think it
was a good match in the beginning. Amy, however, gave Clem her email address
and told him that she would like to be friends. Clem kept in touch with her
through email and their friendship grew. Apparently, George Costanza's "By
Mennen" strategy works. "Clement Chiu!"
Amy and Clem exchanged email on a daily basis for the next few months. They
eventually knew that they had feelings for each other. Clem finally asked Amy
out on a date on March 13, 2010. The date went well and they were engaged 15
months later."
Amy and Clem are still waiting for an audition for a Match.com commercial :)

The Best of 2011 - The Facts
December 5, 2011
Every year in December and into the early weeks of January, I like to do a series
of "Best of" posts about that year's best cakes, flowers, moments, etc. Well, it's
December and that means it's time for me to get started. The categories will be
the same this year as last, and I've decided to start with one of the most most
fun ones - The Facts.
So, this is just a miscellaneous collection of facts about my 2011 weddings - some
of you may find this very interesting ( Hooray! ) while some of you may not.
Either way, here they are, and I hope that you enjoy them!

The Best of 2011 - The Bride's Apparel
December 9, 2011
Most brides have envisioned themselves in their wedding gown since they were a
little girl - sometimes that vision becomes a reality, and sometimes the bride
chooses to go in a different direction from that which she had always imagined.
Either way, the wedding gown is one of the single most defining decisions a bride
will make in preparing for her wedding day. I think that my 2011 brides did an
outstanding job in selecting their gowns - every time I saw one of my brides for
the first time in her wedding dress, I was thrilled! It is so much fun to see a bride
for the first time in her dress, so radiant and beautiful... In this post, I've included
a number of images of dresses, jewelry, veils, accessories, etc. that my 2011
brides chose to wear for their own wedding.

The Best of 2011 - The Details - Part One
December 9, 2011
Okay, so last year, I came up with the idea of creating these posts at the end of
the year which feature all the "best of" kind of things that I saw or that happened
during the previous year. I came up with a bunch of different categories, and
although I initially thought it would be pretty easy, as it turned out it was a LOT
OF WORK! I had to literally go through tens of thousands of images to do it!
YIKES!
You know what though - January and February are sooooo slow for weddings - I
pretty much just shoot a lot of boudoir sessions and work on business details -
anyway, I figured I'd do it again this year. But there are just sooooo many of
these amazing detail shots, so I have no choice but to break this category into
two sections. So here in this post, I've included what I think are the best of the
details from 2011 - PART ONE. Enjoy!

The Wedding of Megan and Matt
December 21, 2011
Okay, I am going to boldly state a fact about Megan and Matt that may
compromise many people's opinion of my photography skills... They CANNOT
take a bad picture. They are just the most adorable couple you could ever want
to meet, and they are both so totally photogenic that it truly did make my job
easy - and fun!
My first hint of what was to come revealed itself on the day we shot their
engagement session, because they made it so easy and the images all turned
out so beautifully! But their wedding day truly took it to a whole new level! The
bride was beautiful, the groom was handsome, and their friends and family were
simply wonderful. They allowed lots of time for photography ( Hooray! ) and the
ceremony was gorgeous and the reception was outstanding. It may sound as
though I'm gushing a bit about this couple and this wedding, but that is only
because I am. But, don't take my word for it - click on the image at right!

The Best of 2011 - The Details - Part Two
December 15, 2011
So, I'm going back through my past year's weddings, and I'm finding all sorts of
wonderful shots ( I say ) and there are sooooo many pretty detail shots - credit
not to me, but to my brides, who were responsible for all of these beautiful
details. All I did was capture them with my camera.
Anyway, there was no way I could possibly fit all of the details shots I wanted to
include in a single post or it would have been ridiculously long, so I decided to
break it into two sections, which I cleverly named Part One and Part Two.
This post, then, is Part Two.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. To view the post, please simply click on the

The Best of 2011 - The Cakes and Goodies
December 19, 2011
Wedding Cakes are soooo good, right? Well, while eating the cake just might be
the best part, I have to say that there is another reason why I love wedding cakes
so much, and that is because they truly are beautiful, unique works of art. They
almost always are designed to complement the bride's wedding theme and
colors, and the wedding cake is surely one thing that grabs everyone's attention
at the reception.
During 2011, I had the opportunity to photograph all sorts of different wedding
cakes, each of them unique and beautiful in their own special way. As is my
custom, I usually incorporate them into a collage for posting to my blog, and I've
included a number of my favorites from this past year in this particular post.
This year, to make things even better, I've also included shots of other delicious
desserts, treats, and goodies! YUM!

IQ FOTO wins the Wedding Wire Bride's Choice Award for 2012!
Announcement
IQ FOTO has been truly honored to win the Wedding Wire Bride's Choice Award for 2012. That makes for the third year in a row
that we have won this prestigious honor. Woohoo!
Not only that, but we are also three-time winners of The Best of The Knot! We are extremely pleased to receive awards such as
these, and hope that it conveys the message to brides who are considering our services that we are a very good choice for their
wedding day photography, and that oodles ( yes, oodles - that means a lot! ) of our past brides stand behind us!
One of the coolest things about this particluar honor is that it is awarded based upon the reviews of real brides - just like you! And these awards are only
given to a very small fraction of professional wedding photographers - and quite frankly, there are zillions of photographers out there, as I'm sure you
know! To quote Wedding Wire, "This award recognizes the top five percent of local wedding professionals..." That's a statistic that I am really proud of,
and it means that I will do for you what I do for every bride who hires me to photograph their wedding, engagement session, or boudoir session - I will
give you my very best! I think if you compare our work, our experience, the awards that back it all up, and our very reasonable pricing, the choice of
wedding photographer for your own wedding should be very easy! But, if you still have doubts, don't hesitate to contact me at any time and I'll try to
persuade you over the phone, email, Facebook, in person, etc. :)

The Sangeet of Shweta and Jason
January 21, 2012
A Sangeet is a traditional Indian wedding event that typically is held just a day or
two prior to the actual wedding. There are lots of songs and dancing and it's
really quite informal. Did I mention there is eating - lots of incredible eating! - and
it is so much fun!
The colors and the Henna, the laughter and the love - there really is nothing else
like it! Now Shweta and Jason are actually getting married this weekend, but in
Chicago, so unfortunately for me I will not be there to see that! Still, I feel very
privileged to have had the opportunity to photograph their Sangeet - it was a
truly wonderful occasion and one that no one in attendance will soon forget!
But, don't take my word for it! Click on the image at right to see the full blog post
and enjoy the colors and pageantry all for yourself!
